Councilor Scott's Call To Action: Chamisa Hills Golf and Country Club
As you all know, we have a potential new buyer for the Chamisa Hills
Country Club. The new owner has stated that he intends to bring the
country club back up to a facility that all of Rio Rancho can be proud
of. It will take him millions of dollars to do so and I believe we
should all stand behind him to ensure success.
During my term in office, a number of residents, and specifically
community leaders in business and government, have stated to me how
important it is to have this amenity in our city. Unfortunately,
questionable management practices have led to the continued
deterioration of the golf course, which has driven down the membership
from a high of over 1000 to fewer than 200 members. All of this has
occurred even with an extremely low and unchanged water rate since 1995.
I ask that you pledge your membership in the new country club and join
me as a new or continuing member. If this is something you support,
please send your membership pledge, as well as your name, address and
phone number to my email no later than August 1, 2013. I will print
each one out and present it to the potential new owner in person before
he closes escrow on the property. This way he will know that along with
the millions of dollars that he is risking, that he has the community
behind him to ensure success.
The new health of the golf course will bring much needed jobs, economic
development, enhanced recreation facilities, and a sense of pride to our
community. The county club has been a gathering place for all of us
since the city started. We surely do not want to lose it.
My email is: MScott@ci.rio-rancho.nm.us
Thank you for your support. I look forward to hearing from you.
