The five-acre community is owned by Vancouver, Wash.-based Hawthorn Retirement Group and is located at 2331 Westside Blvd. SE, near the Presbyterian Rust Medical Center. Hawthorn expects to hire 50 employees in the Rio Rancho area.
The 134-unit residential community will offer studio and one- and two-bedroom units with kitchenettes. There will be four cottages available as well with full kitchens and garages.
Amenities include a three-meal per day food service, housekeeping and laundry facilities. Additional features include a movie theater, activities center, library, business center, fitness center and chapel.

Sunday April 28th, 2013 2:00 am-2:30 pm: Commemorative Iris Planting at the Rio Rancho Veteran's memorial Park. The planting was sponsored by the Enchanted Vista Iris Society of Rio Rancho, NM. "Our Salute to Our Veteran's" in appreciation of their service to our country and their sacrifices to protect our freedoms. The irises were donated by iris hybridizers from across the country and they were selected for their patriotic names. Although they will not be in bloom this year, be sure to watch fot their blooms next year.

Friday, May 4th, 2013, 1 pm-2 pm: "First Friday's with Mark" at the Café Connection located at 3751 Southern Blvd. Councilor Scott encourages District 4 residents and citizens of Rio Rancho at-large to join him for lunch or a cup of coffee. For the first part of the hour, Councilor Scott has invited Matt Geisel, business relations and convention and visitors bureau manager, to discuss the programs coordinated by Rio Rancho’s Convention and Visitors Bureau as well as upcoming events at the Santa Ana Star Center. The second part of the hour will be open to any general comments and suggestions to help make the city better.
