RIO RANCHO — The city estimates that road repair work needed at the Unser and Northern intersection because of a water main break will be completed next week. It won’t be until all the road work is done that the intersection will be restored to pre-break conditions, according to a news release.
The intersection was closed Wednesday night due to the break and subsequent repair work.
As of Thursday night, one northbound and one southbound lane on Unser through the intersection were open for motorist use, according to a city news release.
The city said the following road restrictions will remain in effect until further notice to allow all related roadway repairs to be completed: northbound Unser traffic will not be permitted to make a left turn to westbound Northern; southbound Unser traffic will not be permitted to make a right turn to westbound Northern; eastbound Northern traffic (west of Unser) will not be allowed to proceed through the intersection at Unser. Traffic will be diverted to Acorn Loop and Acano Circle.
Also, the Public Works Department on Friday lifted a precautionary boil water advisory for water utility customers who lost service as a result of the water main break. The city has received the results from bacteriological tests confirming that the water is safe to drink, a city news release said.
